Backpack Program for Kids

Backpack Program for Kids

Thanks to the Backpack Program, kids don’t have to go hungry during the weekends when they do not have access to the school breakfast and/or lunch programs. The program is designed to provide food assistance to children by discreetly providing food and snacks in backpacks on Thursday or Friday so the children have food to eat during the weekend. Backpack for Kids is another program of America’s Second Harvest – the Nation’s Food Bank Network. The West Texas Food Bank Backpack Program started at the Jeff Davis County Food Pantry in the Ft. Davis/Valentine area with a ConAgra grant, and is now privately funded.
